About Josh

My name is Joshua and I am a vibrant, active and very friendly young man who loves meeting people and connecting with my community. I live with autism, epilepsy and an intellectual disability and although these disabilities can be challenging, they do not stop me from living a very happy and fulfilling life.

I live in Townsville, North Queensland and have developed many strong connections with my community due to my very outgoing and friendly nature. I am also a passionate North Queensland Cowboys supporter, and in 2022 made my debut for the Blackhawks All Abilities League Tag team.

About Jobs4Josh

About Jobs4Josh

Jobs4Josh is a small, locally-owned business that has been providing rubbish removal, ute delivery and small/odd job services in and around Townsville since 2015. Jobs4Josh was created to provide me (Joshua) with:

  • an ongoing, part-time job
  • a happy and fulfilling life
  • the ability to contribute to society in a vaulable and meaningful way

Jobs4Josh is slowly and steadily growing – just like me! For the first five years (while I was in school) we were limited to weekends, however in the past two years (since finishing school) we have been able to offer services during the week too. Since launching, we have completed over two hundred jobs, many of which have been repeat business. We have almost 2,600 Facebook followers and over 500 people now following us on Instagram.

History

The concept of Jobs4Josh originated back in around 2010 when my parents, Darin and Susan, watched a 60 Minutes story one evening about Jackson West and his Canberra business JACKmail. Jackson’s mum, Sally Richards OAM, created the business “for and around” Jackson to provide him with a meaningful and happy life. Jackson’s story immediately resonated with my parents and they knew then and there that they needed to create something similar for me.

Jobs4Josh History - first job in 2015
Dad and I setting out on our first Jobs4Josh job together in 2015.
It took a few years to get things off the ground. However, in March 2015 (when I was 13 years old), my dad and I set out in his beloved HiLux to do our very first job together (pictured).

We began by doing small jobs for family and friends, then through word of mouth for teachers and other families at my school, Townsville Community Learning Centre (TCLC). My school was very supportive of my business, teaching me many of the foundation skills that I need to do my jobs.

I am very social and love getting out and about in the community. This and social media has helped me grow my business to the point where I have a meaningful job, where I can help others, and lead a happy and fulfilling life.
